On Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½app welcomed designers Corey Damen Jenkins and Alexa Hampton for a fascinating conversation about Corey's design inspirations, the challenges of building a successful career, and some of his remarkable projects.
Incorporating a variety of sources from ancient Egypt to Napoléon I’s tented rooms, Corey took attendees on a trip through the ages to show how he incorporates historical precedent into his bold designs. Filled with anecdotes and lively conversation between two friends, this is a history lesson in interior design that will be as entertaining as it is informative.
The Annual Mark Hampton Lecture honors the legacy of renowned designer Mark Hampton and celebrates the highest caliber of interior design in the classical tradition.
About the Speakers
A proud inductee of Architectural Digest’s AD100 as well as ELLE Decor’s prestigious A-List, Corey Damen Jenkins began his design career in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. His bold interiors have graced the front covers of House Beautiful and Traditional Home and have received extensive features in many publications including House & Garden, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Detroit News. His first coffee table book, Design Remix: A New Spin on Traditional Rooms (Rizzoli), was released worldwide in March 2021 and has since entered its fifth reprint.

Corey recently moved his burgeoning enterprise to New York City, where he continues to indulge his passion for charity work as an advocate for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. Through his firm, he has also funded a scholarship and mentorship program with the New York School of Interior Design.
Since Alexa Hampton took the reins of Mark Hampton, her father’s iconic firm, as owner and president in 1998, she has advanced its legacy of elegant, practical, classically based interiors for modern living. Regularly named to Architectural Digest’s AD100 and House Beautiful’s Top Designer list as well as Elle Décor’s A-List, Hampton translates the classical principles of good design and decoration into some of today’s most elegant, enduring, and functional domestic landscapes.
Like her father, Hampton is a highly regarded author with two critically praised books on design to date – The Language of Interior Design and Decorating in Detail. In an ever-expanding portfolio of acclaimed products, Hampton provides smart, stylish, design-rich solutions for every aspect of the home. Hampton sits on the board of trustees for the New York School of Interior Design and the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½app.
