In May, the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½app will present a travel program to the vibrant country of Morocco. There, our group will glimpse a sample of the cultural and historic depth revealed by the places and people of three of Tangier, Taroudant and Marrakech, three of Morocco’s most historic cities. Our group will visit a number of distinctive sites, in addition to private gardens and residences rarely seen by the general public. The identity of Morocco is enigmatic and complex, due to many influential nations that have contributed to its unique culture. At one time or another, it has been under Arabic, Roman, Portuguese and British rule. Architecturally, this meeting of eastern and western hemispheres will be illustrated as our group visits sites of both classic and contemporary construction.

Highlights from our time in Tangier will include the interior design of Stuart Church, as well as a private art collection spanning several centuries, and the former studio of artist Francis Bacon. In Taroudant, we will explore a number of palaces constructed by both European and Moroccan architects.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn about Moroccan and Berber culture while enjoying lavish meals and the courtesy of our hosts. Marrakech will present the chance to view sites including the Majorelle Gardens, the former home of Jacques Majorelle that was revitalized by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, who also established a Berber Museum on site. The experience of this tour is encapsulated in the remarks of Tony Buxton, a participant on a past ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½app tour of Morocco:
“In addition to the memories created for us in Morocco, we returned with a sense of family who, together, had been taken safely to a wonderland of exotic adventures in a far away friendly place."
