Join the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½app and the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation for a conversation with Annabelle Selldorf, principal of Selldorf Architects and Gary R. Hilerbrand, principal of Reed Hilderbrand Landscape Architects. In this conversation Annabelle and Gary will discuss their collaborative work on the renovation of the historic greenhouse designed by Beatrix Farrand and McKim, Mead & White in 1925, the new propagation greenhouse and academic building, and the interdependent relationship of landscape, architecture, and art.
Gary Hilderbrand is principal and founder of Reed Hilderbrand Landscape Architects and is the Peter Louis Hornbeck Professor in Practice and Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Harvard Graduate School of Design. Hilderbrand is a fellow and resident of the American Academy in Rome. He received the Design Medal from ASLA in 2017. His widely acclaimed publications include The Miller Garden: Icon of Modernism and Visible | Invisible: Landscape Works of Reed Hilderbrand.
Annabelle Selldorf is the Principal of Selldorf Architects, which she founded in 1988. Ms. Selldorf serves as Lead Designer on each of the firm’s projects. Born and raised in Germany, she received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University in Florence, Italy. Ms. Selldorf is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and serves on the Board of the Architectural League of New York, the World Monuments Fund, the Chinati Foundation, and the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College. Ms. Selldorf is the recipient of the 2016 Medal of Honor from the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and received the organization’s prestigious Award in Architecture. She is a frequent lecturer and juror and has taught at Harvard and Syracuse University. Ms. Selldorf is the creative head and lead designer of Vica by Annabelle Selldorf, a collection of interior furnishings, lighting, and accessories.
