Using the Old Governor鈥檚 Mansion as a detailed case study, the workshop offers practical insights into the design, execution, and maintenance of ornamental plaster. By examining this historic site, students will gain hands-on experience and learn how to apply these skills to their own projects.

Instructor: Carolyne Chardac
Carolyne Chardac is a traditional plasterer trained in historical plastering and ornamental work including scagliola. She recently obtained a degree in Building Arts with a specialization in Decorative Plasterwork from the American College of Building Arts in Charleston, SC. During her time attending the school, she traveled to England and France to be classically trained in her trade. Carolyne is also an Alumni of LSU with a B.A. degree in Art History.
At the moment, Carolyne is setting up her business, Atelier 11 in the Greater Atlanta area with intentions of doing restoration work, new installations and preservation of plaster throughout the United States, wherever there is a need as well as continuing her hands-on education in Europe.
