3 AIA CES Learning Units|Elective and 3 credits towards the Certificate in Classical Architecture (Mouldings) for attendance at both sessions
A good place to begin study of the classical language of architecture is with an overview of the geometry and terminology of classical mouldings, the smallest classical parts. Mouldings may be thought of as the 鈥榓, b, c鈥檚鈥� of classical architecture. The classical orders and related forms are composed of a combination of these smaller elements and are therefore better understood when one is versed in the grammar of the individual parts. Mouldings also represent, in minute form, some of the ideas that define classicism itself. Participants will learn how to distinguish major profile types and explore some of the guiding principles and theory involved in their design and application.Participants of all backgrounds and skill levels are welcome. This program is especially recommended for anyone who wishes to attend other The Elements of Classical Architecture courses, which focus on drawing the classical orders.Please note that this course will be held online via Zoom. This is a two-part class; Part I takes place on Tuesday, October 1, and Part II takes place on Thursday, October 3. Registration includes both parts of the class.

Clay Rokicki started at Historical Concepts Architecture & Planning in 2006 after graduating summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in architecture and a concentration in furniture design. In 2010, Clay was awarded the J. Neel Reid Fellowship from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, enabling him to sketch his way through southern England. He currently serves on the 蜜桃传媒app Committee of the 蜜桃传媒app鈥檚 Southeast Chapter, is a national 蜜桃传媒app Fellow, and helps develop and teach courses for the 蜜桃传媒app. Clay is a Principal at Historical Concepts, leading a design studio and also serving as the firm's Director of Design Enrichment, developing creative learning opportunities to increase team collaboration and individual skills of the design team.
The 蜜桃传媒app provides up to three complimentary spaces in each Continuing 蜜桃传媒app course for students or young professionals to attend. Upon signing up, you will be entered into a pool of applicants. Individuals will be randomly selected two weeks before the course begins, and all sign-ups will be notified via email.
