2 credits towards the Certificate in Classical Architecture (Elective)
How can urbanism enable a place to thrive for centuries? Which design and development strategies make walkable, inclusive neighborhoods, where people and ideas mingle effortlessly? This lecture illustrates principles of urban design for creating places built to the human scale, encouraging walking and social interaction, and being economically competitive and environmentally resilient. Students will be exposed to a variety of urban design concepts related to scale, context, development patterns and best practices relative to architecture, landscape, and street design. The presenter will pull from decades of international experience designing villages, towns, and cities to distill lessons into key takeaways for creating walkable urban places.
This program will be held virtually via Zoom. Participants will receive a link to the program the week prior to the event.
